Two series of experimental results related to high strength line pipes
( >, X70) are reported and discussed in the light of Arrest/Propagation events
obtained in full scale burst tests, a number of which performed with
full instrumentation by N.ITALSIDER/CSM. The systematic deficiency of Q.T.
materials in terms of ductility, with respect to traditional materials taken
as a basis for the setting-up of reliable formulations, as well as the
inadequacy of Charpy-V parameter in the highly separated C.R. materials
will be pur into evidente. It will be also shown how the CTOA Propagation
parameter worked out from laboratory tests is potentially able to distinguish
among various classes of steels, otherwise undifferentiated in terms
of CV, and may help rationalizing the full scale data of Q.T. and C.R.S.
