Gerd Vogt played a key role in establishing the European Pipeline Research Group EPRG which is one of the most important international research organizations focusing on the safety of gas pipelines. He led the organization for 25 years between 1972 and 1997 and was a pioneer in forming a collaborative environment based on mutual understanding and trust within a diverse group of members.
His early colleagues remember him as a clever pioneer in the pipeline industry, and a fine chairman of EPRG - a remarkable diplomatic leader.
In 2020, the old and new members of EPRG met him at the 50th anniversary of the organization when he gave a keynote speech highlighting the never-ending importance of pipeline systems in the energy mix. Attentive and observant as always he contributed with good questions and ideas reflecting his continuous interest in the topics and the future of EPRG.
